HTML and XML documents contain data surrounded by tags, but that’s where the similarities between the two languages end. In HTML, tags define the appearance of your data, e.g. title formatting, the paragraph starts here, and so on. In XML, tags define the structure and meaning of your data (e.g. this is the data).
